EVENTS

  • Primary Care clinicians play a critical role in Montgomery County’s Plan to End HIV by 2030. Pride in Sexual Health is a mostly web-based, CME/CEU-backed mini-symposium designed to build primary care clinicians’ knowledge, skills and practice to support early HIV diagnosis, treatment and prevention, all through an LGBTQ-inclusive lens. The series will conclude with a full-day, in-person, facilitated practicum at the Silver Spring Civic Center, where clinicians will have opportunities to practice their new skills with role play, small group discussion, work with standardized patients, and case analysis.

All clinicians are welcome to attend, but CME/CNE will be provided only to those practicing in Montgomery County. Credits will be awarded based on the number of full training modules attended and a completed evaluation.

  • In recognition of Juneteenth, Pride in the Plaza will not hold any activities on Monday, June 20th. Juneteenth has long been recognized by Black communities as a celebration of the end of slavery in the United States, and as of last year is officially recognized as a federal holiday. Instead of attending any Pride in the Plaza events on this day, we encourage you to support local Black led organizations and businesses.

We encourage you to check out these events happening in honor of/on Juneteenth:

Join the cast of Black Girl Magic Stories, airing on MMCTV and DCTV, for a hybrid in-person and virtual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 18 at Sandy Spring Museum from 2 PM - 5 PM. Stay tuned for registration information, and in the meantime, you can meet the cast and take a sneak peak of Black Girl Magic Stories here: phillipalexanderdownie.com/bgms

Loyalty Bookstores, a local Queer and Black owned bookstore, will have a Jubilee Juneteenth Book Bundle, a curated collection of books to read in honor and celebration of Juneteenth. Stay tuned for this year's book bundle, and check out Loyalty Bookstores for online and in-person books that center Black, PoC, and Queer voices. loyaltybookstores.com
